Enjoy Your Life! Build Your Business! Have Your Way!

I went through a cleansing/detox diet about a month ago and am loving my new diet mostly absent of dairy and wheat. In the process have discovered a world of other nutritious and delicious grains and foods. BTW, I don't miss the old way o...f eating, but I do treat myself to a delicious cupcake once in a while.

I am loving Quinoa...check it out. Tastes great, versatile and easy to make. I had a bowl of quinoa, apples, blueberries, walnuts, almond milk and coconut sugar for breakfast this morning. My skin is looking healthy and glowing! Read on...

dM, also buy the teff grain and make it like porridge/oatmeal.  It tastes delicious!

Thanks for the great tips, Marianne. I had not heard of teff flour and a few other things you mention. It will be fun to check them out and learn.

Through my Naturopath, I did a detox diet and didn't eat any of the following: wheat, dairy, soy, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, citrus fruits, chocolate, gluten. I used a detox powder from my Naturopath as well to help clear the body. During the two week detox I ate whole fresh foods, tried new grains like teff, which makes a great porridge. I am now baking with brown rice flour, quinoa flour, teff flour, coconut flour, sorghum flour, gluten free oat flour.

I did include chocolate back into my diet. I eat quinoa, rice or teff for breakfast with fruit and nuts. Love coconut sugar, read more about it here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coconut_sugar. I really thought I would miss cheese, but I save the cheese for special occassions then only eat really good quality. Same with wine, I treat myself once in awhile to really good wine.

I am finding that when I do eat wheat and dairy I don't feel so good. I have eliminated processed foods too. It really is easy, for snacks I will grab a couple of cuties (clementines) or carrots and cucumbers with roasted red pepper humus or a brown rice cake with almond butter and banana.

I am excited about eating and preparing food again and love how I feel. Good luck! Be prepared for the first five days of feeling pretty bad.

Thanks for sharing this. Do you reallynot miss the "old" way of eating? I'm just curious because I need to create a new type of eating program for myself and I'm at a loss for where to (re)start. I love quinoa too, and enjoy the diferent ways it can be prepared. But I'm curious -- what was the "withdrawal" period like, if any, as you transitioned from whatever the "old" way of eating was to the new one.

Thanks for any feedback. And thanks for the link to quinoa info!
