Essential oils help to balance scalp oil, refresh and cleanse hair. They work like a tonic and promote shiny hair. Here are some of my favorite essential oils for hair care.

Bergamot Citrus bergamia is uplifting, refreshing, astingent and regulating. Use for most hair types.

Clary Sage Salvia sclarea is balancing (helps to balance sebum), calming and regulating. Use for most hair types especially dry and oily.

Lavender Lavendula angustifolia is calming, relaxing and regenerative. Use for most hair types.

Lemon Citrus limon is soothing and uplifting. Lemon is cleansing, astringent and a skin tonic.  Use for most hair types especially oily and light color hair.

Litsea Cubeba litsea cubebais cleansing and a skin tonic. Use for most hair types and oily hair.

Orange, Sweet Citrus sinensis is uplifting, soothing, calming, balancing (sebum) and regenerative. Use for most hair types.

Peppermint Mentha x piperita is stimulating and increases circulation of the scalp. Use for most hair types and prevention of hair loss and dull hair.
Precaution: Keep away from eyes.

Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis cineol is invigorating and stimulating. Use for most hair types and prevention of hair loss.

Sage Petit feulles is distilled from the young leaves and does not contain the strong constituents that Sage officinalis does. It promotes skin regeneration and shiny hair. Use for most hair types.

1. Apply 1-2 drops essential oil onto your brush and brush your hair. Not only will your hair smell nice, the essential oils will also promote smooth and shiny hair.

Marilyn, I can smell your shampoo bar. I bet it is incredible. You must be good at scent blending. You created an excellent blend for hair.

Interesting about your experience with lemongrass. The shampoo bar can be a highlight shampoo bar for those without color on their hair.

Joan thanks for sharing your information - great list. I make a hot process shampoo bar with several of the EO's above- Lavender-Rosemary-Clary Sage- Cedarwood Atlas & Pink Grapefruit. Will have to try one with some Peppermint in t -that would be great. One time I had run out of the Rosemary and made a bar with just Lavender & Lemongrass and a friend used it who colored her hair and the Lemongrass affected the color so it came out. Just an FYI. Dumped those bars in a hurry!  :o)  Not a good selling point.  Mair
